  Newspaper		Notice of Slander Action The Ottawa Journal, 20 October 1896. By Robert and Eliza Jane Hemphill, against Thos. E and Mary Moran, all of Huntley township. "Mary Moran" probably refers to Thomas E. Moran's widowed mother Mary (Leavy) Moran, and not to his new wife Bridget Mary McDermott.
  		Mr. T.E. Moran got a surprise The Carp Review, 29 November 1906 Robert James and Joseph Hemphill were the sons of Robert and Eliza Jane (Mellon) Hemphill, who had pursued a slander action against Thomas E. Moran and Mary Moran (presumably his widowed mother, Mary [Leavy] Moran) in October 1896.
