• Notes

Married: Joseph P. Winke and Lauretta Bringard were first cousins, which is probably the reason why they went across the border to marry in Windsor. In the Ontario civil marriage record, Joseph Winke makes the following declaration: "I, J.P. Winke, had, since the day of Birth, my usual place of abode within the municipality of Detroit, in the County of Wayne. The reason for procuring the marriage to be solemnized in Windsor is not to evade due publicity -- or for any other unspoken purpose."
